René is professor in pharmaceutical physical chemistry at the University of Southern Denmark. Prior to his career in academia, René held senior scientific roles in the innovator pharmaceutical industry, including the position of Senior Director, Drug Product Development - Liquids & Parenterals at The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson and the function of Senior Director, Pharmaceutical Science at Lundbeck. He has (co-)authored over 240 original articles in peer-reviewed publications and is inventor on over 20 patents and patent applications.

René provides scientific advice to Harpago in the areas of developability, preformulation and formulation design.

Patrick is professor in biopharmaceutics at the University of Leuven, Belgium. His research focuses on the biorelevant profiling of intestinal drug absorption, covering all underlying processes including dissolution, precipitation, degradation and permeation. One of his lab’s major research topics involves the study of in vivo drug and formulation behaviour via the aspiration and detailed characterization of human gastrointestinal fluids. Patrick is (co-)author of over 300 peer-reviewed publications.

Patrick advises Harpago in the areas of biopredictive solubility, dissolution and permeability profiling.

Maarten is a serial entrepreneur with a track record of success in the technology industry. In 2008, he co-founded the geospatial technology company Gatewing, which was acquired by Trimble Navigation in 2012. In 2015, he co-founded the security wearables company Ticto, which was acquired by RightCrowd in 2018.

Maarten holds a Master's degree in mechanical engineering from Ghent University. He coordinates Harpago's automation and laboratory informatics projects. Maarten also has a keen interest in corporate finance and helps in setting out Harpago's long-term financial strategy.
